I know I am not the only one who loves to run, travel, train, compete, and wear Canadian colours. I dream of standing on the top of the podium at the Olympic Games, proudly belting out “O Canada” in my unfamous tone-deaf voice. Just the thought of achieving this “dream of dreams” gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes.
But my love for running transcends my own goals and ambitions: I love both the art and science of running, training and competing at all levels. I love the community and energy of runners as they meet for long runs on miserably cold Canadian winter mornings; as they meet for workouts at tracks and try not to destroy their teammates; as they join the local running stores and clinics across the country to boldly set out to achieve their own goals – time, distance, completion, and place goals.
I also know that runners love to share stories and experiences. This website is meant to be another way to bring us together in a constructive and positive way. I plan to update my blog with my stories – although they often take tangents from running-specific subjects to general travel and observations. My other interests include traveling and urban planning; after a while they all start to blend together into an urban planning-traveling-running story. My hope is to engage runners across the country so that we can all cheer for each other as we set out to meet our aspirations.
Over time I am planning to make this site as interactive as possible, so please stay tuned and feel free to drop me a line with your stories and ideas! As a community, we can support each other to make the times, teams, distances and races happen.
